Mechanical
or Membrane Keyboard?
The choice is Yours!!
As we
venture inside this 21st century where technology has taken over, most of us
use computers, laptops or smartphones to do our jobs. the use of paper has been
reduced to a minimum. If you don't believe me, ask yourself; what you prefer,
'a paper or a Computer?' Moreover, a computer is usually used via a mouse or a
keyboard and who doesn't want a comfortable keyboard so that he/she could type
with ease. Furthermore, we never thought there could be two different types of
keyboards, but, believe me, or not having the proper time will save your quite
a lot typing time and as you know 'Time is Money and Money is Power!'
So what
are mechanical keyboards? Mechanical keyboards are spring-activated key
switches. They are made up of several parts such as spring, stem and metal
contacts. You press the stem which in turn pushes the spring ( or in more
technical terms, compresses) and causes the metal contacts to connect and
output is given on your desktop screen. One of the pros this specific type of
keyboard carries is that they are durable so obviously they will last longer
and they will rarely wear out. And without any doubt, you would have guessed
that springs may help in increased typing speed because the elasticity of these
springs will surely provide you with an edge. They are even stable and won't
fall easily!! However, these are quite expensive if compared to membrane keyboards
and they are a little bit louder but silent versions of this type of keyboards
are also available nowadays.
Now its
turn for Membrane Keyboard!! These are rubber dome keyboards with a small
rubber dome inside which actuates the switch and keycap goes back again. These
keyboards are quite popular as usually whenever you purchase PCs or laptops,
these keyboards are sold with them. The only reason for this that all in one PC
sellers sell us this is that membrane keyboards are cheaper, lightweight,
smaller and more compact and less noisy compared to their counterparts. But the
drawback is, these keyboards wear out quickly. After frequent use their keys
get stuck and these keyboards become harder to use.
